Inclusive Design Policy
Our approach to creating equal opportunities for every child's creative potential
Our Inclusive Design Philosophy
Core Belief
Every child's creativity is unique, and technology should be a tool to unlock this creativity, not a barrier. We place inclusivity at the center of our design process so all children aged 6-12 can equally benefit from our maker projects.
At 3DMoose, we view inclusive design as the art of creating solutions that work for children of all abilities, cultural backgrounds and learning styles. Our approach goes beyond just accessibility, embracing a design philosophy that celebrates diversity and sees differences as strengths.
Our inclusive design policy is shaped based on Article 31 (right to play and recreation) of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and Article 7 (rights of children with disabilities) of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
Core Design Principles
Universal Usability
We design our projects to be usable by the widest possible range of users without requiring additional adaptation. This covers both physical and cognitive diversity.
Multiple Interaction Paths
We provide multiple ways to achieve the same goal. Visual, auditory, tactile and movement-based interaction forms offer options suitable for each child's learning style.
Adaptable Content
Our content can be adapted to different difficulty levels, speeds and personal preferences. We design flexible structures so children can progress at their own learning pace.
Cultural Sensitivity
Aware of serving a multicultural user base, we create inclusive content using examples, colors and references from different cultures that embrace everyone.
Our Implementation Strategy
We apply inclusive design principles at every stage of our product development process. This approach encompasses the entire design and development cycle, from ideation to final product.
1. Research and User Analysis
We conduct comprehensive user research before each project. These studies help us understand the needs, preferences and challenges faced by children with different abilities. We collaborate with special education experts, pediatric therapists and parents to identify real needs.
2. Inclusive Design Process
Our design team creates diverse personas to consider different needs. Every concept is tested for children with autism spectrum disorders, dyslexia, visual difficulties, hearing difficulties and motor skill differences.
3. Prototyping and Testing
During prototyping, we conduct test sessions with real users. These tests include not only the target audience but also children with different abilities. This way we observe how our designs work in real life.
4. Continuous Improvement
Even after our products are launched, we closely monitor user feedback. We make continuous updates and improvements in terms of accessibility and inclusivity to respond to evolving needs.
Content Creation Guidelines
When creating our maker projects and educational content, we rigorously apply the following guidelines:
Language and Communication Principles:
- • Simple and Clear Language: Age-appropriate simple sentences with complex terms explained
- • Multi-Format Support: Explanations supported by text, visuals, video and audio files
- • Step-by-Step Guidance: Structure that breaks each project into small, manageable steps
- • Positive Communication: Supportive tone that presents failure as a learning opportunity
- • Cultural Diversity: Inclusive examples containing references from different cultures
Visual Design Standards:
- • High Contrast: Color contrast above WCAG AA standard
- • Large Text: Minimum 16px text size, larger fonts for headings
- • Icon Support: Explanatory icons and visuals alongside text
- • Color Blind Support: Information transfer not solely dependent on color
- • Consistent Layout: Consistent and predictable page layouts
Technological Inclusivity
When designing our digital platform, we consider the needs of families with different technological infrastructures and devices:
Low Bandwidth Support
- • Optimized image sizes
- • Progressive loading technology
- • Offline access options
- • Minimal data usage mode
Legacy Device Compatibility
- • Support for devices 5+ years old
- • Lightweight and fast interface
- • Low system requirements
- • Adaptive performance optimization
Team Training and Awareness
We are aware that for our inclusive design approach to be successful, our entire team needs to be competent in these areas:
- Regular Training Programs: All design and development team members receive inclusive design training at least twice a year
- Expert Consultation: Regular consultations with special education specialists, occupational therapists and accessibility experts
- Empathy Development: Simulation exercises for team members to understand the experiences of users with different abilities
- Staying Current: Following and implementing new developments in accessibility and inclusive design
Our Future Goals
We aim for continuous improvement in our inclusive design journey. Our focus areas for 2024-2025:
AI-Powered Personalization
Intelligent content system that automatically adapts to each child's unique needs
Advanced Assistive Technology Integration
Richer interaction with eye-tracking, voice control and haptic feedback systems
